Welcome to Mid City

A quiet, residential neighborhood in the heart of Los Angeles.

Tucked away in the bustling city of Los Angeles, Mid City is an area that comprises the neighborhoods of Hancock Park, Larchmont, West Adams, Wilshire Vista, and Beachwood Canyon. This quiet, residential area is noted as Ray Charles’ former haunt, as his recording studio was once located in Mid City. Mid City has a wonderfully diverse population, perfect for meeting people of all walks of life, and housing options are mainly low-rise apartment buildings or homes that feature apartment units. There is also a nice selection of Craftsman and Spanish-style homes.

You’ll find some fantastic restaurants and cafes lining the iconic Pico Boulevard, which forms Mid City’s northern border. Los Angeles favorite Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles is based in Mid City and is always a great spot to stop by for a delicious lunch with friends! Enjoy the healthy and organic fare at The Grain Cafe, sit outside and enjoy a hotdog or hamburger at Oki’s Dog, or dine on authentic Mexican cuisine at La Cocinita. Residents love living near the Midtown Shopping Center, where you can grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks or stock up on makeup at Ulta. Retail favorites, including Target and Living Spaces, are conveniently located around Mid City.

Mid City is a great place for Los Angeles commuters. Depending on traffic, you can typically make it to Downtown LA or Century City within 15 to 45 minutes by car or head over the hill to get to Burbank within half an hour to an hour. The La Brea Tar Pits and Museum are located in the area, a popular Los Angeles visitor destination. There are some great fitness opportunities, including Whole Body Method and Liberation Yoga. Residents enjoy how walkable the city is; it’s easy to get to a variety of small grocery stores and safe to walk your dog for some daily exercise.

Mid City is home to a number of great schools. Children in the area begin their education at public elementary schools like Crescent Heights, Carthay Center, or Cienega, all operated by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Students may also choose to attend the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, a public college preparatory school, for grades 6 through 12; this school has been named a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School and ranks as one of the best public schools in the nation.
